Dr. Siu teaches at the Master of Public Policy, Administration and Law program at York University, a former director at the Government of Ontario, and an author of numerous books and professional articles. He provides management consulting services to the public, broader public, private, and non-profit sectors, and has been awarded by the Government of Ontario for his outstanding community services.

Dr. Siu has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in public policy, public administration, program evaluation, equity policy, leadership and human resources management, workplace equity, social justice and community action, race and ethnicity, racism, political sociology, sociology of knowledge, socio-economic development, industrialization and economic development, social movements. sociology of conflict, social stratification and introductory sociology. Dr. Siu has been sitting on the Panel of Judges for the Focus 2040 Project, DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University since 2011.

Professional Leadership

Dr. Siu is the former Provincial Chair of Federal-Provincial Joint Committee on Employment Equity and a former director and Executive Coordinator in Compliance, Regulations Development and Policy/Research in the Government of Ontario. Dr. Siu is the former Chair or Director of an extensive range of professional and business associations including Toronto Board of Trade (World Trade Centre Committee), City of Toronto's Historical Houses and Museums Board, Marketing Research and Intelligence Association, Sales and Marketing Executives of Toronto, Canadian Institute of International Affairs, Diversity and Employment Equity Professionals' Association, Business Marketing Research Association, and Canadian Ethnic Media Association. Dr. Siu is active at the Strategic Capability Network. Dr. Siu has led extensive management and training projects in diversity and employment equity, management and planning, marketing and social research, and statistical data analyses for the public and business sectors since 1989. Industrial sectors include pharmaceutical production, travel and tourism, transportation, communications, mass media, financial and government services.

Community Contributions

Dr. Siu is the former Chair of Accessible Community Counseling and Employment Services and the former director of the Volunteer Toronto. Dr. Siu has been providing management consulting, strategic and operational planning, marketing, fundraising, human resources management, governance, coaching and facilitation services to a broad range of non-profit organizations under the Management Advisory Services since 1997. Projects conducted are in the areas of health and palliative care, adult education, employment, housing, disabilities, youth development, community recreation, social advocacy, benefit funds, and international development.

Summary: 
This manuscript will show the statistical profiles of corporate executives and board directors and identify barriers to leadership for women, racialized minorities, persons with disabilities and Aboriginal peoples.

Description: 
Research will cover interviews and focus groups with executives and board directors, and reviews of corporate executive and board directorship announcements.
