Sessional Assistant Professor, from Camões, Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, at York University. Ph.D. in Didactics/Applied Linguistics (University of Aveiro, Portugal) – focused in the philosophy and practice of Portuguese language teaching, she has experience both in teaching and in conducting teacher training in Portugal and Brazil. Her main research interests, visible in her publications, paper presentations and scientific advising activities are: Portuguese Language Teaching, writing research, teaching of writing, writing for professional development, teacher ongoing education, pedagogical tools, written and oral communicative genres, students’ relationship with language/writing/knowledge. Her research centers indeed on students’ relationship with language, particularly developing and publishing course materials and activities so that language learners can communicate meaningfully in Portuguese. She has been involved in individual and collective, national and international research projects such as “PROTEXTOS (Protexts): Teaching of texts production in Compulsory Education” and “European Research Network on Learning to Write Effectively (ERN-LWE) – COST ACTION IS0703” (European agency for Cooperation in the field of Scientific and Technological research). She takes part in the Research Center on Didactics and Technology in the Education of Trainers (CIDTFF). At YU, she teaches Portuguese language courses at all levels.
