Dr. Peter Constantinou is one of Canada’s leading public policy practitioner academics and award winning university lecturer. Dr. Constantinou holds a BA (Specialized Honours) in Public Policy and Administration from York University, and an MA in Public Policy and Administration from McMaster, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education from the UofT. His doctoral dissertation was a landmark study of government relations with stakeholders in the post-secondary education sector in Ontario. Dr. Constantinou is a long-time public servant who has worked at the federal and provincial levels of government and in the college and university sector. He was a Research Analyst with the Royal Commission on Electoral Reform and Party Financing; a Policy Analyst, Senior Policy Advisor and Senior International Trade Advisor with the Ontario Ministry of Environment and Energy; and Chief of Staff and Executive Assistant to an Ontario Minister of Education and Training. In 2015 Dr. Constantinou was awarded the President’s University-wide Teaching Award at York University. Dr. Constantinou has over 20 years of experience in adult education and executive training in the area of public policy and administration both in Canada and abroad. He has offered specialized programs for the Ontario Fire College and First Nations Technical Institute, and has worked taught professionals from provincial and municipal governments in Canada. For the last few years, Dr. Constantinou has delivered stakeholder engagement/management training, along with political acuity and ethics training to public sector executives as part of the Master’s certificate in Public Management at the Schulich School of Business. Dr. Constantinou also lectures and advises governments internationally. He has worked with the Chinese government to develop a model ethical code of conduct for public sector employees and diplomats and the Chinese Meteorological Society to develop a model for evaluating meteorological services for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Dr. Constantinou has recently worked with the President’s Office in Vietnam to design a code of conduct for civil servants. Before joining York, Dr. Constantinou was Director of Government Relations at Seneca College where he was managing relations with key stakeholders and responsible for liaising with the post-secondary education sector and all levels of government in Canada and abroad. Prior to joining Seneca, Dr. Constantinou was Special Advisor to the President of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) and Director of International Projects at Durham College. Dr. Constantinou is currently Academic Director of the Ontario Legislature Internship Programme. Dr. Constantinou has an extensive record of publication on topics in public policy. He recently completed studies of political acuity in the Ontario Public Sector and in Durham Region.
