Xueqing Xu’s recent research interest is on Chinese Canadian diasporic literature both in English and in Chinese, and on Chinese women literature. About ten articles and introductions on Chinese Canadian literature in Chinese have been published in Chinese journals and literary anthologies during the past several years. Currently she is working together with Dr. Laura Wu on the Chinese Times, a daily Chinese newspaper published in Vancouver from 1907 to 1992, which is part of her major research project on the history of Chinese Canadian literature.

She teaches a second year language and culture summer course, a joint programme with Fudan University of Shanghai, China, where students will be directly exposed to Chinese language and culture. She also teaches Chinese literature, classical fiction, and women writers in modern and contemporary China.
